An engines ability to make power is controlled by the aiflow charactoristics of its cylinder head, and when a greater amount of air/fuel mix can be inhaled by the engine at every revolution of the crankshaft, an increase in power will result. This is exactly what a well developed cylinder head can do; increase power through airflow efficiency. Put simply, OEM manufactures cannot afford to develop engines and cylinder heads to the same high standards we do. Many stock cylinder heads are very restrictive to airflow, even when used on stock engines.
